Privacy policy
Last updated 7 November 2026
Languor is a vocabulary app. This policy explains what we store, why, who processes it for us, and how you delete it. We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
Languor is run by Aleksander Szamrej, Poland, who is the data controller. Write to hello@languor.app for anything in this policy.
What we store
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your account: email address, or the identifier Apple or Google give us when you sign in with them | To sign you in and keep your words across devices |
| Your words, the topics and interests you choose, and the sentences written for you | The app itself: suggesting words and writing sentences around your interests |
| Learning history: when you opened a sentence, your answers in the recall check, review ratings | Spaced repetition: deciding when a word comes back |
| Your time zone and sentences-per-day setting | Delivering sentences between 08:00 and 22:00 your time |
| A push notification token for your device | Sending the sentences as notifications |
| Sentences you report, with the reason | Removing bad sentences so nobody sees them again |
| Usage events (for example "word picked", "review rated") and crash reports, with your device model, OS version, app version and an app-generated install id | Seeing which parts of the app are used and fixing crashes; never for advertising |
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos or advertising identifier. Pronunciation uses your device's built-in speech; no audio leaves your phone. Interests and topics are free text: please do not put health, religion, politics or other sensitive details in them, since they are sent to the AI service that writes your sentences.
We process this data to provide the service you signed up for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and, for abuse prevention, crash reporting and reusing sentences between learners, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service working (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in.
- Anthropic (Claude) writes the example sentences. It receives the word, your chosen topics and interests, and words you are reviewing, never your name or email. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- Expo relays push notifications to Apple's and Google's notification services; the notification contains the sentence text.
- Apple and Google if you choose to sign in with them.
- RevenueCat manages the subscription: it receives purchase receipts from the App Store and your account id (never your name or email), and tells us whether the subscription is active.
- Free Dictionary API and Datamuse check that a word you type exists and suggest spellings; they receive the typed word, nothing about you.
- Amplitude (usage events) and Sentry (crash reports) receive the usage and crash data listed above under an install id, never your email.
Supabase keeps our data in the EU (Ireland). Anthropic, Expo, RevenueCat, Amplitude and Sentry process data in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and, as a fallback, the EU standard contractual clauses.
Sentences written for one learner can be reused for another learner of the same word. They never contain your personal information.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database immediately; encrypted backups roll over within 7 days.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your account and everything listed above. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
Children
Languor is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, deletion, a restriction of processing, or a copy in a portable format at any time by emailing hello@languor.app, and you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest. We answer within a month. If you are in the EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in Poland that is the Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO). In the UK it is the ICO.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change applies.
